Victoria Schwab is an author that everyone and their mother has read books from and loves. I was basically that one person in the world that hadn't read Victoria Schwab so you can understand why I was pretty excited to finally find out just what I was missing out on when it came to Victoria's books.

Starting the book was one of my favorite things because the first line of the book basically grabbed me into the story. Usually, beginnings are so hard to read, just because it does take awhile for the story to start up and really get interesting but NOPE, not with Victoria's book! It is definitely a beginning that stands out and really kicked off the book with a great first impression. Also, it immediately gave me an idea on what the character would be like because that first line spoke so much about the character.

Another thing I really loved about this book was the wonderful world This Savage Song takes place in. If I were to put a genre to this book, it would definitely be a little dystopian and fantasy. You have the very dystopian world with different names to each territory of the world and also different technologies. This Savage Song also has very fantasy-like creatures, which was probably one of the most interesting things to read about in this book. There are three kinds, all three of them kill, but in different ways, which I loved reading about and learning about how they affect the world this book takes place in.

I also really loved the badass main characters in this book. Even though they were both related (or "related" in August's case) to very highly respected people, they knew how to protect themselves, think their way out of the situations they were put in, and work together, despite all their family's differences. I am really looking forward to more of them in the next book and to see what situation Kate and August are put in for them to work together again because I love reading about Kate and August as they work very well together.

Speaking of the next book, I loved the ending of this book and how well it set up the story for the next book. It had solved a problem for the two characters and left them both at pretty good places AND THEN reveals some shocking information that is definitely going to play a huge part in the next book. I mean excited for it guys, I am.

This Savage Song was a fabulous read filled with an interesting world, great characters, a very interesting plot, and I can't wait to get more of it!

One thing I especially loved about this book was the fact that August and Kate did not become romantically involved, which is fabulous because her story didn't need romance to carry it, it did fine on it's own! Would I like to see some romance between August and Kate? Sure, if Victoria feels like she wants to do that but I'm also okay with them not having a relationship in this story but I look forward to reading more and seeing what Victoria does with these two.
